As the only organization of professional child and adolescent psychiatrists in the region, our mission is to provide outreach and education to families and medical professionals in the area. Child mental health has increasingly become an important problem in our country; with nearly 14 million children estimated to have psychiatric conditions in need of mental health services, and less than 8,000 child psychiatrists, many kids are untreated or undertreated. Many go completely unrecognized. We believe that through early detection and intervention, we can greatly improve outcomes for these children and their families. By reaching out to our community, we hope to gradually improve understanding of pediatric mental health conditions.
