Eraka P.J. Bath, MD, Receives AACAP’s 2025 Jeanne Spurlock, MD, Lecture and Award on Diversity and Culture

Washington, DC - The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) is proud to announce Eraka P.J. Bath, MD, as the recipient of the 2025 Jeanne Spurlock, MD, Lecture and Award on Diversity and Culture. This distinguished award honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to advancing the understanding of diversity and culture in children’s mental health and to recruiting individuals from all cultures into the field of child and adolescent psychiatry.

AACAP’s Jeanne Spurlock, MD, Lecture and Award on Diversity and Culture is named in honor of Jeanne Spurlock, MD, in recognition of her legendary commitment to recruiting members from diverse cultures into child and adolescent psychiatry. AACAP created this lecture and award in her honor to recognize her work and encourage others to follow her example. This distinguished award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the understanding of diversity and culture in children’s mental health and who contribute to the recruitment into child and adolescent psychiatry from all cultures.

Dr. Bath will present “The Fierce Urgency of Now: The Importance of Everyday Activism and Community Organizing in Medicine” during Honors Presentation 3 on Thursday, October 23, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST at AACAP’s 72nd Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois.
