AACAP’s 2020 Legislative Conference
Please plan to attend AACAP’s annual Legislative Conference on April 2-3, 2020 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, in Washington, DC. AACAP’s Spring Assembly meeting will occur at the same location on April 4, 2020.
AACAP will provide Legislative Conference attendees with the training and reference material needed to successfully advocate for AACAP’s federal policy priorities and will schedule any necessary Congressional meetings on the behalf of all attendees. Free member registration for this conference should become available in early 2020.
Advocacy Fellow Ambassador Program Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellows will again be invited to apply to become an AACAP Advocacy Fellow Ambassador who are awarded travel grants to help offset the cost to attend the Legislative Conference. These travel grants are expected to be matched with financial support from the fellow’s regional organization. Regional organizations can nominate up to two fellows to support annually for this program.
Family Advocates AACAP works to recruit a limited number of patients willing to travel to Washington, DC to attend the Legislative Conference as a Family Advocate and tell his or her story alongside AACAP members.
AACAP’s 2019 Legislative Conference
On May 2-4, 2019 AACAP's Government Affairs team hosted over 200 AACAP members, including residents and medical school students, along with dedicated family advocates, who traveled from across the U.S. to take our message to Congressional decisionmakers. AACAP’s Department of Government Affairs and members of its Advocacy Committee presented during the two-day event, providing legislative training and resources for successful Congressional meetings.
