Colorado Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Society Meetings, Activities, and Events
CCAPS members are invited to participate in bi-monthly CCAPS Chats. These informal virtual events are held on the 2nd Thursday every other month at 6:30pm and offer attendees the opportunity to engage with guest speakers, receive AACAP, legislative and educational updates, as well as network and socialize with other members. Meeting invites are provided via email. Contact niki@coloradopsychiatric.org for more information.
#TeensTalkMentalHealth
The Colorado Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Society received the 2021 AACAP Advocacy & Collaboration Grant for our project entitled #TeensTalkMentalHealth.
The #TeensTalkMentalHealth grant project involved interviewing Colorado teens to share their perspectives on what their mental health needs are in their own words. These interviews have been recorded and combined to create videos that will be shared with the Colorado community. We have crafted a video for legislators and policy makers, encouraging them to listen to teen voices. Additionally, we have put together a video aimed at informing parents about teens’ needs from their own perspective.
We encourage you to view these videos yourself and forward them along to parents, teachers, policy makers, and legislators.

CCAPS recently received an AACAP Advocacy and Collaboration grant to partner with SMART Colorado to protect youth from the harms of marijuana exposure. CCAPS members have been very active in spreading accurate, scientific information about marijuana and its effects on the developing brain. We have also been at the forefront of advocating for common sense protections for youth during marijuana legalization. Please see the PDF below with links to videos of our members traveling across the state for this important work.
