2025 AACAP Systems of Care Fellowship

The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) is pleased to announce the following opportunity for child and adolescent psychiatry fellows:

2025-2026 AACAP Systems of Care Fellowship

Chosen fellows will have the opportunity to participate in a year-long seminar on Systems of Care topics, network and receive mentorship from AACAP Systems of Care Committee members, network with fellowship alumni, attend the 2025 and 2026 AACAP Annual meetings, develop a poster based on a systems of care topic to be presented during the AACAP 2026 Annual Meeting Systems of Care Special Program, and receive a stipend for participation.

Program Benefits

  • Two stipends of $1000, one at the beginning of the fellowship and one at the end of the fellowship, upon completion of the requirements
  • Participate in monthly virtual seminar series on Systems of Care topics including but not limited to child welfare, juvenile justice, education, early childhood services, organizational and financial structures in mental health, and careers in Systems of Care.
  • Support and mentorship for poster development on a Systems of Care topic.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be either child and adolescent psychiatry fellows or triple board trainees at the time of the 2025 AACAP Annual Meeting.
  • Participants must be currently enrolled in either a child and adolescent fellowship program or triple board training program in the United States; fellows in their first or second year of child fellowship training are eligible. Triple Boarders in their fourth or fifth year of training in their triple board programs are eligible.
  • Participants must either be members of the AACAP or have a membership application pending at the time of application..

Requirements

  • Recipients must attend the Systems of Care Special Program Institute Question & Answer session in person and at least one other Annual Meeting event sponsored by AACAP’s Systems of Care Committee during both the 2025 and 2026 Annual meetings
  • Recipients must participate in the monthly virtual seminar series on Systems of Care topics from November 2025 to September 2026.
  • Recipients must present a poster on a Systems of Care topic/project in person during the Systems of Care Special Program Institute in conjunction with 2026 AACAP’s Annual Meeting.
  • Recipients must write a brief essay on their experience and give a presentation to their program reflecting on their opportunities. 
     

Application Process

  • The application cycle begins May 26, 2025 and closes August 4, 2025. 
  • Use the Confex online awards portal system to:
    • Identify and request a completed Program Director’s Form and Letter of Recommendation from your training program.
    • Upload a completed Systems of Care Fellowship Application Form which requires:
      • Identifying a local mentor
      • Presenting a systems of care project idea
      • Providing a personal statement
    • Uploading your Curriculum Vitae
  • Please see complete detailed instructions on the online awards system.
  • Applications will be reviewed by members of AACAP’s Systems of Care Committee.

The application cycle closes at 5:00 pm (EDT) on August 4, 2025.

*All applicants may submit materials for this opportunity as well as those offered by the Educational Outreach Program; however, individuals cannot receive both awards at the same time.
