AACAP Legislative Conference

Join AACAP’s 2023 Legislative Conference in Washington, DC May 8-9, 2023. Registration is Now Open!

Conference registration is FREE, and open to AACAP members only. Meeting Registration will close on April 4, 2023 and no registration is available onsite. 

Share your expertise to inform policies that promote equitable access to high-quality pediatric mental health care and that grow a diverse child and adolescent psychiatry workforce!
 
Legislative Conference participants will engage in advocacy training, mental health policy discussions, and in-person meetings with Members of Congress and their staff.
 
A limited number of travel grants will be available to support residents and fellows attending the conference.  For more information on these awards, contact Ben Melano, Deputy Director of Federal Affairs, bmelano@aacap.org.
 
AACAP member conference attendees are also encouraged to invite family advocates to participate.  AACAP will cover family advocate expenses.  To learn more about this opportunity, contact Emily Rohlffs, State Advocacy and ROCAP Engagement Manager, erohlffs@aacap.org.

Book your hotel room for AACAP’s Legislative Conference (Deadline to make reservations: April 14, 2023). A hotel room reservation may be cancelled 48-hours in advance of the start of any reservation.

Tentative Schedule of Events

(all times are in EDT)

Monday, May 8

  • 12:00 pm Conference check-in opens
  • 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm: Mandatory Legislative Conference Training and Practice Sessions for all attendees 
  • 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm: Congressional Awards Reception

Tuesday, May 9

  • 8:00 am to 9:00 am: Training breakfast for all attendees 
  • 9:00 pm to 5:00 pm: Congressional Meetings on Capitol Hill 

AACAP will schedule your Congressional meetings on your behalf throughout the day on Tuesday, May 9, which will be communicated to you closer to the conference.
