Mental Health and Intellectual Developmental Disorder: Fundamentals and Frontiers in Science and Clinical CareA high percentage of children and adolescents with Intellectual Developmental Disorder (IDD) have a co-occurring mental heath condition. Child and adolescent psychiatrists and other mental health professionals need up-to-date information on diagnosis and management of IDD to better understand and treat the unique presentation of psychiatric illness in individuals with IDD. Participants learn the current evidence-based and clinical perspectives for diagnosis and treatment of individuals with IDD who present in a psychiatric setting; including a review and update of the most common syndromes, implications for care, and use of translational medicine. Participants interact with the panel of experts to review diagnostic and treatment dilemmas, and discuss a range of research and clinical tools to use in developing treatment plans for individuals with IDD and co-occurring psychopathology.
