An Update on Advances in Psychiatric Care of Children With Epilepsy
Participants receive current evidence-based and clinical research data about children with epilepsy (CWE). Presentations review the high prevalence of epilepsy in children, advances in epilepsy classification, diagnostic methods for early identification, treatment protocols, and effective management. There is a detailed review of the most common cognitive and psychiatric comorbidities in CWE. A pragmatic approach breaks epilepsies down by age of onset, showing half or more of epilepsies occurring in the first year of life include some of the most debilitating disorders with severe seizures, intellectual disability, autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders, and disruptive behaviors.
