Research Institute: Techno-Psychiatry: Child Psychiatry in the Digital Age
The Research Institute presents current evidence and emerging tools, processes, and analyses related to the rapidly growing technological advancement in child and adolescent psychiatry. These advances in information technology, software, and hardware engineering make it possible to employ technology to improve both research and clinical care. Participants become familiar with the strengths, challenges, and promises of novel techno-psychiatry practices in the digital age; discuss the growing interest in capturing digital biomarkers from smartphones, wearables, and social media; and improve their understanding of ethical issues and client perspectives regarding the use of technology in research and clinical practice. Clinicians learn about the latest research to guide the assessment and treatment of children using technological advancements; and researchers receive updates on emerging tools, analytical techniques, consumer engagement, and innovative and translational approaches in the area. Ample time is planned into the schedule throughout the day for question and answer sessions.
