Washington, D.C., September 12, 2013 - The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s (AACAP) announced James C. MacIntyre, M.D., as the recipient of the 2013 Catcher in the Rye Award to an Individual. The award recognizes Dr. MacIntyre’s tireless advocacy and work on behalf of children and families in New York and North Carolina.
Throughout his career, Dr. MacIntyre has shown outstanding leadership in the specialty of child and adolescent psychiatry, serving as AACAP Treasurer, Council Member, Chair of the Work Group on Consumer Issues, and Co-Chair of the Gifts and Endowments Committee. Most recently, Dr. MacIntyre is involved in the AACAP Presidential Initiative, Back to Project Future.
The AACAP Catcher in the Rye Award was named after J.D. Salinger’s classic novel. It is administered by the AACAP’s Assembly and recognizes an individual for outstanding advocacy efforts on behalf of children and adolescents.
