Course Overview

AACAP’s Douglas B. Hansen, MD, 50th Annual Review Course emphasizes the most recent material relevant to the general practice of child and adolescent psychiatry and serves as an up-to-date review of child and adolescent psychiatry as well as addresses important clinical research. The course is designed to update practitioners on state-of-the-art standards of diagnosis and treatment.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this continuing medical education activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify assessment and treatment of youth with autism including high functioning autism using behavioral and pharmacologic approaches.
  2.  Improve outcomes of treatment resistant depression using pharmacologic, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and ketamine treatments.
  3.  Summarize trauma in diverse populations and apply trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for childhood traumatic grief.
  4.  Identify strategies for promoting healthy weight gain in youth with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and with weight management, including with GLP-1 agonists and similar weight-loss medications.
  5.  Support children and families affected by climate change and social media.
  6.  Assess and treat youth within systems of care, including foster care.

  • Submit questions for Thursday’s question and answer webinar in advance
    • Submissions due by Wednesday evening prior to the Q&A
  • Complete a weekly post-test

Learners are expected to:

  • Tune in Thursday evenings for the weekly presenters’ 45-minute live question and answer via Zoom
  • Attendees are able to ask questions live during the Zoom
  • Q&A sessions are recorded and posted the next day
