Making CPT Codes Work For You
David I. Berland, M.D., Benjamin N. Shain, M.D., Ph.D., Sherry Barron-Seabrook, M.D.

Managed care, Medicaid, Medicare, and indemnity insurance rely on Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) 2007 for billing and reimbursement. Child and adolescent psychiatrists should be familiar with this gold standard coding system. This Member Services Forum addresses the challenge of applying the current CPT system of coding to children, adolescents, and families. It discusses the consequences of incorrect coding and teaches the correct use and documentation for specialty CPT codes.

Risk Management Concerns in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Eric C. Marine, Mary Morrissey Sullivan, J.D.

The present state of litigation involving the prescription of certain drugs has lead to psychiatrists being participants in that litigation. It is important for psychiatrists to understand what is involved in this type of litigation and what to personally expect. In this Member Services Forum, the litigation process is analyzed and discussed to provide an overview while exploring the specific aspects involved in the litigation. Strategies are discussed to reduce the exposure caused by these suits and specific recommendations are made to mitigate the problems caused by being involved in a lawsuit.
Sponsored by the AACAP Member Benefits Committee
