Continuing Medical Education (CME) Activities

  • Clinical Perspective $15,000
    Clinical perspectives are three hours in length and allow up to five speakers to present a particular topic specifically related to treatment, research method, service delivery, or clinical care. New as of 2005, these sessions were highly popular with attendees.
  • Institute $25,000
    The eight well-attended Institutes offered are seven hours in length and attract attendees who wish to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the latest issues in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • Symposium $20,000
    Symposia are three hours in length and present data-driven perspectives of differing aspects or views of a variety of pertinent topics in the field. Popular past symposia included research in areas including ADHD, depression, developmental disorders, and substance abuse.
  • Workshop $15,000
    Workshops are three hours in length and provide instruction on treatment, research method, delivery, or organization of services. Limited to 25 participants, the 30 Workshops offered are often sold-out and the small classroom format encourages audience participation in a hands-on, focused learning experience.

AACAP Annual Meeting CME Activities, Continued
  • AACAP Honors Sunrise Presentations $20,000
    These presentations are made by distinguished member recipients of the following awards. Award recipients will be announced by June 2006. Three presentations are available for sponsorship and a continental breakfast will be served following each presentation.
    • Elaine Schlosser Lewis Award for Research on Attention-Deficit Disorder
    • George Tarjan Award for Contributions in Mental Retardation
    • Irving Philips Award for Prevention
    • Klingenstein Third Generation Trust Award for Research in Depression or Suicide
    • Rieger Award for Scientific Achievement
    • Rieger Service Program Award for Excellence
    • Sidney Berman Award for the Study and Treatment of Learning Disabilities
  • International Symposium $80,000
    This symposium, designed specifically to welcome international attendees, is held on Tuesday evening and features a topic of global importance relating to child and adolescent psychiatry. A reception follows the event.
  • Plenary Address $20,000
    The Opening Plenary welcomes all registrants to the AACAP Annual Meeting and awards are presented to those who have made significant contributions during the year. The plenary address highlights a current topic of interest relevant to the field.
  • New Research Poster Sessions $30,000 per evening
    These highly attended visual presentations present recent findings and are often the research of young investigators, residents, medical students and research or clinical fellows. Two and a half hour sessions are available for sponsorship on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening. Wine and cheese will be served during each session.
