Journalists' Invitation to Attend - Free to Credentialed Media Personnel

The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), convenes its 53rd Annual Meeting in San Diego, California on October 24-29, 2006, with special participation of the Asociación Mexicana de Psiquitría Infantil, A.C. (AMPI). Experts will present on topics that include addiction, bipolar disorder, attentional disorders, autism, bullying, and prevention.

 American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry's 2006 Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA
October 24-29, 2006

Washington, D.C.—The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), convenes its 53rd Annual Meeting in San Diego, California on October 24-29, 2006, with special participation of the Asociación Mexicana de Psiquitría Infantil, A.C. (AMPI). Experts will present on topics that include addiction, bipolar disorder, attentional disorders, autism, bullying, and prevention.

The AACAP Annual Meeting, which will assemble at the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina this year is the world's largest gathering of child and adolescent psychiatrists. Eight institutes, 47 symposia, 29 workshops, and more than 300 new research posters will represent the latest in the art and science of child and adolescent psychiatry. Journalists will have access to the world's foremost researchers and clinicians and their latest work on topics including:

  • Adolescent Substance Use Disorders: Evidence- Based Management
  • The Psychiatric Assessment of Preschoolers
  • New Advances in Treating Traumatized Children
  • Protective and Risk Factors in Pediatric Bipolar Disorder
  • The Neurobiology of ADHD, Learning Disorders, and Executive Function Problems
  • The Application of Human Genetics to Child Psychiatric Disorders
  • Systems of Care: The Road Ahead for Policy and Practice.

The AACAP Annual Meeting Press Room will be located in the Chicago Room of the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina. Press Room hours are Tuesday, October 24-Friday, October 27, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 28, 8:00 a.m. to noon. The meeting is open to members of the media and credentialed public relations staff of nonprofit, allied mental health organizations.
