Helen Beiser, MD Award
Every year the Illinois Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is proud to sponsor the general psychiatry residents who are interested in specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry. In order to facilitate this interest, we offer an award equal to AACAP and ICCAP yearly dues for psychiatry residents who show their interest. Required for the award is a 500 word maximum essay on the resident's interest in specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry.The deadline for the Beiser Award paperwork is due in January, 2012. Jay Hirsch, MD Award for best research paper in Child Psychiatry
Open to medical students, general psychiatry residents, child psychiatry fellows, and early career psychiatrists who have graduated within the last two years. Papers will be judged on originality, relevance to the field of child and adolescent psychiatry, type of paper, and quality of writing and manuscript preparation. Author guidelines for submissions are included. All questions should be directed to Amber Thompson at ICCAP.Thompson@gmail.comThe Jay G. Hirsch Memorial Award was established to honor the late Jay Hirsch, MD, a much beloved child psychiatrist, clinician, and educator who had a profound impact on child psychiatry in Illinois.
The next deadline for submission is in February, 2012.
The recipient of the 2011 Jay Hirsch Award is Dr. Deepti Singh for her paper titled Weight Gain in Illinois Foster Children Treated with Second Generation Antipsychotics.
