New Jersey Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

The New Jersey Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry was established in September, 1972 by a group of child and adolescent psychiatrists with the avowed support of maintaining a liason with AACAP.

 The aims and purpose of this organization are to provide a working body of physicians, who by their training, interest and collective experience, as well as research capacity in child pyschiatry shall be qualified to study, represent and promote such pracatices as would contribute to the advancement of all aspects of mental health of children and adolescents

These aims and purposes shall be fulfilled by:

  • our constituting a scientific forum representing all variations of function of child and adolescent psychiatry ( administration, research, training and clinical practice), for the discussion of subjects related to the emotional, behavioral and developmental needs of children and adolescents.
  • our promoting the training of child and adolescents in the State of New Jersey
  • our concern with research investigations and evaluations in the field of child psychiatry
  • our communication with other professional groups concerned with the health, education and welfare of children
  • our liasons with constituted organizations such as the local, state and regional medical and psychiatric societies
  • our availability as authoritative spokespersons in the field of child psychiatry to responsible State and community groups (public and private) concerned with health, welfare and education of children and adolescents

Membership is open to all members in good standing of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
