MOC Part 2 - Self Assessment and CME

  1. Evidence of self-assessment and CME
    1. Self assessment program - participation in at least 2 major, broad-based self assessment programs during the 10 year MOC cycle (beginning in 2014, diplomates are required to use only ABPN-approved products for self-assessment activities)
      1. At least an average of 8 of the CME credits per year (averaged over 2-5 years) should involve self-assessment
      2. One activity completed in years 1-3
      3. A second activity completed in years 6-8
      4. Feedback must include comparative performance to peers
      5. Self-assessment exams must include no fewer than 25 questions per examination and 2 CME credits per activity
      6. Self-assessment exams must take place before any subsequent CME educational activity

    2. CME activities
      1. 300 specialty or sub-specialty, Category 1, CME credits over the ten year period broken down as 150 CME credits within each of the 5 year block periods

What is AACAP doing for its members to assist with the self-assessment and CME requirements?
To assist members in demonstrating the lifelong learning requirement as well as preparing for the cognitive examination, the AACAP Work Group on Lifelong Learning prepared educational opportunities targeted to those engaged in the maintenance of certification effort.

Educational opportunities provided by AACAP to help you fulfill these self-assessment and CME requirements include: 

  • Lifelong Learning Modules
  • Annual Meeting
    • Specialized Institute at the Annual Meeting devoted to the topic of the module and the latest research in the field.
