Workshop U: Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Adolescents (IPT-A) in Community Settings

Friday, October 26
8:00 – 11:00 a.m. (ticket)
Helen Verdeli, Ph.D., Laura H. Mufson, Ph.D., Jami F. Young, Ph.D.

This Workshop introduces participants to Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depressed Adolescents (IPT-A) in its original form and adaptations for use in diverse settings. IPT-A is a short term treatment for adolescent depression that has shown efficacy and effectiveness in randomized clinical trials. IPT-A was originally designed as a 12- session treatment that focuses on improving depressive symptoms and interpersonal functioning. Information is given on recent efforts to adapt the techniques, training, and supervision of IPT-A for use in three community settings. Participants gain a better understanding of IPT-A and how it may be used in their own settings.
