As women complete their child and adolescent psychiatry residency training, they face decades old challenges in choosing a career path that allows them to balance professional and personal goals. The objectives of this presentation include identifying internal variables for women that may affect their choices of career, identifying external factors to consider in career selection, and comparing and contrasting benefits and challenges of careers in private practice, community psychiatry, and academics.
