Washington, D.C., October 22, 2009 – The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) is pleased to announce Liwei Hua, M.D., as the recipient of AACAP's 2009 Beatrix A. Hamburg Award for the Best New Research Poster by a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Resident. This award recognizes Dr. Hua for her poster, “Do Differences Exist in Psychosocial Functioning, Familiality, and Psychiatric Comorbidity Between Bipolar Disorder Youth With and Without Psychotic Features?”
“It is an honor to receive the Beatrix A. Hamburg Award for my project with my mentor Timothy Wilens, M.D., at the Massachusetts General Hospital in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry,” Dr. Hua stated. “I was fortunate enough to have met Dr. Wilens during my interview at MGH, and since then, he has been exceedingly supportive of my desire to engage in clinical research.”
AACAP’s Beatrix A. Hamburg Award for the Best New Research Poster by a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Resident was established in 1996 through a grant from the Greenwall Foundation in honor of Beatrix A. Hamburg, M.D., a trustee of the foundation. Dr. Hamburg was the President of the Williams T. Grant Foundation and is a Fellow of AACAP.
Dr. Hua presents, “Do Differences Exist in Psychosocial Functioning, Familiarity, and Psychiatric Comorbidity Between Bipolar Disorder Youth With and Without Psychotic Features?,” during New Research Poster Session 3 on Thursday, October 31 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at AACAP’s Annual Meeting at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu, Hawaii.
