AACAP Honors The New England Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with the Catchers in the Rye Award to a Regional Organization

– The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) is pleased to announce The New England Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (NECCAP), as the recipient of the 2009 Catchers in the Rye Award to a Regional Organization. This award recognizes NECCAP’s outstanding local arrangements efforts led by Sharon Weinstein, M.D. and record attendance at AACAP’s 2007 Annual Meeting in Boston, MA.

“On behalf of NECCAP, I extend our gratitude to AACAP for the 2009 Catchers in the Rye Award,” Dr. Weinstein stated. “As Chair of the Local Arrangements Committee for AACAP's 2007 Annual Meeting in Boston, I would like to acknowledge and thank the many members and staff for their hard work, dedication, innovative ideas, generosity and enthusiasm during the fifteen months of planning and executing of operations for the meeting.”

NECCAP is recognized for drawing an attendance of over 3,700 attendees, with 18% international participants. Over 60 child and adolescent psychiatrists, Local Arrangement Committee members, 213 Monitors and 15 Research Assistant made the Annual Meeting possible. NECCAP/ AACAP also increased their membership from 438-488 members during the 2006 to 2007 planning year.

They are also credited with coordinating three sold-out practicas on Eating Disorders, Consultations-Liaison and Forensics, special institutes on Psychopharmacology and School Consultation, international programs representing over 60 countries, Professional Promotional Initiatives and the Psychopharmacology Institute for Pediatricians.
