Honolulu, Hawaii, September 3, 2009 — The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry convenes its 56th Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii October 27-November 1, 2009. Registration for the meeting is free for credentialed journalists.
Who: More than 3,500 child and adolescent psychiatrists and allied experts on childhood and adolescent mental illnesses from the United States and more than 100 countries.
What: The AACAP Annual Meeting will include:
- Eight Full day Institutes on psychopharmacology, autism, ADHD, bipolar disorder and eating disorders, among other topics. Plus, the Maintenance of Certification Institute will cover the topics of autism, psychotic disorders, and updates on relevant topics for child and adolescent psychiatrists.
- 34 Workshops offering practical clinical information on such topics as cognitive behavioral therapy, autism, anxiety, adolescent depression, eating disorders, genetics, learning disabilities, private practice administration, suicide, telepsychiatry, trauma and much more.
- Over 60 Symposia and Clinical Perspectives in such areas as ADHD, substance abuse, pediatric bipolar disorder, autism, depression, eating disorders, genetics, HIV, juvenile justice, obsessive compulsive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder and systems of care.
- More than 300 New Research Poster presentations.
