AACAP Utah Update on HB 202, Anti-Parent-Teacher Communication Bill

Urgent Action Needed!!!! Hearing on HB 202 Today

UPDATE
Thanks for your phone calls and emails regarding HB 202, Medical Recommendations for Children, we just received notice that supporters of HB 202 were successful in not only clearing passage of the bill on its second reading in the Senate, but were able to secure a speaker in support of the bill that addressed the legislators on the Senate floor.

The bill is now scheduled for a third reading today. The third reading is the final stage for a bill; this will be our last time to stop HB 202.

In order to defeat this bill we need your continued support and action. Please call your Senator and urge them to vote “NO” on HB 202 TODAY!!!

Call or e-mail your Senator immediately! If you don’t know who your state Senator is you can locate them by going to: http://www.utahsenate.org/perl/spage/index.pl

ACTION NEEDED
We have a number of Senators that are currently undecided. In addition, to your Senator please call these Senators and urge them to vote “NO.” You like you can use the talking point below:

Dear Senator _______, currently many school personnel are trained in dealing with behavioral problems in young children, and thus are skilled in making observations about AD/HD or the symptoms. Passage of the bill would take away a teacher or school administrator’s right to do this and resulting in numerous children that will go undiagnosed and thus not receive proper treatment.”
