AACAP Arizona Defeats Anti-Psychiatry Bills

Arizona AACAP Members - You Did It!

Dear Arizona AACAP Members:

We here at AACAP wanted to thank you, because of your efforts we were able to defeated SB 1248 in the Arizona Senate.

S.B. 1248

A bill that would require the collection and maintance of public records in computerized form regarding psychiatric medications administered to children. The information requested included things such as: medication prescribed, name of the child and their address, and health professional license number who prescribed the medication.

In addition, the information collected will be made available to the public and legislature on an annual basis.

You are the key to SB 1248 legislative defeat in the Senate Health Committee! This would not have been possible without your phone calls and e- mails to your state Senator. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy professional and personal lives and helping to defeating this damaging piece of legislation.

We have one more request to ask of you. Just as important as urging Senators to take action it is also important to thank them when they do so. Please, call or e-mail the Senators that voted “NO” on SB 1248.

Once again thank you for your prompt action on SB 1248 and for thanking your state Senator.

Remember none of this was possible without your assistance and with your help we will continue to reach our legislative goals.
