60 Years. 60%. $60.
AACAPs 60th Anniversary Challenge
This year, AACAP celebrates 60 years. Not many organizations in the public or private sectors, for profit or non-profit, get to 60 years. While longevity is a proud milestone, it's 60 years of purpose that matters. We have defined a profession, and in doing this we have made children's futures better.
Now it's on to the next 60 years of more achievements and milestones leading the fight to treat, and one day end, childhood mental illnesses. So, we've launched the "60. 60. 60." challenge. We're calling it the 60% Society. In celebration of 60 years, we are asking 60% of our membership to donate $60. You can donate more - $6/month, or a one-time donation of $600, or $6,000. Or, surprise us!
Be counted. Take part. Be one of the 60%! Please donate now. We would love to announce in Orlando, at the 60th Anniversary Meeting, that 60% of our members donated. This little guy above thinks that would be pretty cool!
So, where are we now (as of February 14, 2013)? We launched in mid-December 2012, and since then, 145 of your colleagues have donated. While this is just over 2%, that's still pretty awesome. It's a first step. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." We have unwavering faith, because we have extraordinary members.
Please act now. Make your donation. $6. $60. Or, $?? You can do it online (on your laptop or smartphone). Or, you can download the donation form. If you are writing a check, please make it payable to The American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and mail it to us (AACAP, P.O. Box 96106, Washington, D.C. 20090-6106).
Whether we reach or exceed this goal, the singular purpose of this challenge is strengthening AACAP, which strengthens the child and adolescent psychiatry profession, for the next 60 years.
The real winner: The children and adolescents whose futures you change.
