Agnes Purcell McGavin Award for a Distinguished Career in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Paramjit Joshi, MD


Established in 2000, in memory of APA Fellow Agnes Purcell McGavin, M.D., to honor a psychiatrist who has made significant contributions in teaching, research, and care of child and adolescents. This award is selected by the APA Agnes Purcell McGavin Award Board.

APF Agnes Purcell McGavin Award for Prevention
Michael Jellinek, MD

Established in 1964 in memory of APA Fellow Agnes Purcell McGavin, M.D., to honor a psychiatrist who has done and is currently doing outstanding work related to the preventive aspects of emotional disorders of childhood. This award is selected by the APA Agnes Purcell McGavin Award Board.

APF Blanche F. Ittleson Award for Research in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Boris Birmaher, MD

Established in 1976 in memory of APA Honorary Fellow and noted philanthropic friend of psychiatry, Blanch F. Ittleson, to honor a child psychiatrist or group of investigators for published results of research pertaining to the mental health of children. This award is supported by the Ittleson Foundation, Inc. and selected by the APA Blanche F. Ittleson Research Award Committee.

Distinguished Service Award
David Fassler, MD

Established by the APA Board of Trustees in 1964 to honor individuals and/or organizations who have contributed exceptional meritorious service to the field of psychiatry and/or the American Psychiatric Association. These awards are selected by the Board of Trustees based on the recommendation of the Distinguished Service Awards Work Group.
